Gilbert Decat was Project Manager Non-Ionising Radiation (NIR) at the Flemish Institute for Technological Research, VITO, Mol, Belgium. His background is environmental physics (BSc: ionising radiation; MSc: non-ionising radiation) and statistics (Generalised Linear Models). Before working in the domain of NIR he worked at the Belgium Nuclear Centre where he was responsible for modelling the exposure of man to ionising radiation. In 1994 he was asked to develop the "exposure assessment (EA)" part of NIR which covered the EA of EMF's in the working and living environments. Gilbert Decat is recognised expert on the topic "New Communication Technology" of the Belgian Health Council. He was a member of the Belgian Bioelectromagnetic Group (BBEMG), the NIR-working of the Ministry of Labour for the implementation of the EC 2004/40/EC directive into a Belgian workplace legislation and of the MT2-Worken group of the EMF-NET FP6 coordination action. |
